I blogged about my first born, and its only fair to have a post on my 2nd, so someday, they both can know their journey into this world :)

went for my checkup with dr Tan, told her I had mild contractions so she checked my opening and it was only 1cm, scanned, baby was already 3.2kgs. Dr Tan gave me a choice, either to wait (which can be 1 day or a week or 10 days) or check in that night and induce, deliver the next day..

looked at mr hubs for like 5 seconds, looked back at Dr Tan, "oklaa induce.."

the decision was based on, 1st, I was already feeling some contractions already ~ malas nak sakit lama2, 2nd, baby was already 3.2kg (that was an increase of 400g in a week!) cant imagine if i had to wait another week ~ mau berat mcm abg die ~ 3rd was because I just malas nak tunggu ~ hehe ~ i couldnt do anything dah masa tu..gerak sket penat...so, better just go ahead kan :)

so after checkup balik rumah, sediakan ape yg patut, ordered pizza for berbuka coz teringin sgt ~ had coke with a lot of ice for the last time before start berpantang, mandi, and went to PCMC at 8 and checked in at 8.30pm

registration ~ waiting for our room :)

dapat bilik nurse datang check ini itu, then ecg, at 11pm ~ 1st dose of the induce thingy ~ tanya nurse sakit tak, die kata sakit, but i didnt feel a thing~ slept like a baby the whole night ~ who can blame me, bilik macam hotel ~ T__T ~ teramat laa jakun ok memula masuk tu ~ aqil dulu kat gomen hospital so mmg macam langit n bumi beza okeh... siap ade kettle and all the coffee and tea, tv 32", toiletries, sofa bed for the hubs, robe, tuala ~ mcm hotel laa ~ sorry laa if i sound so jakun ~ sbb mmg pun ~ lalalala~~

6am - nurse masuk tanya ade sakit tak, i told her nope, she checked, baru bukak 1.5cm ~ only 0.5 difference T__T... so at 6.45 am, she put in the 2nd dose ~ and IMMEDIATELY after that masyaAllah..berpeluh2...the pain started to kick in ~ 7.30 nurse meh check again ~ dah bukak 3 ~ i was like wooo....yess...mesti cepat ..takpelaa sakit mcm ni...janji cepat (or so i thought)

nurse tanya nak amek epidural or not, memula mmg taknak, ckp takpelaa..inject jer, but at 8 when she came back, muka pucat lesi, badan menggigil, nurse kata, "puan, saya rasa better puan amek epidural, puan dah distress dah ni..." and i was like...angguk laju giler..lol!

815 like that after diorang call Dr Tan, trus tolak masuk labor room (which also sebijik mcm hotel room cuma tambah equipment jer - beza gilerr ngan gomen nyer hospital) , and I was lucky ade doctor kat ctu yg trus boleh masukkan the epidural coz gosh masatu mmg sakit yg amat2...

honestly, i was dreading the part nak cucuk epidural tu, coz masa aqil dulu sakitttt sgt masa die cucuk masukkan, but this time, masyaAllah..tak rasa ape, tetibe doctor kata "all done..the medicine will start taking effect in another 10 minutes.." like...what?? i didnt feel a thing! tabik springg pada itu doctor.. :)

labor room ~ siap ade TV and working table for the hubs!

lepas tu terus rehat ~ both me and hubs tido sampai 11 something, nurse datang check once in awhile, tuka drip, check on my condition...kol 12 nurse masuk check opening coz I was in pain ~ mmg confident ni mesti dah bukak banyak... guess what...still 3cm!! i wanted to cry! i dunno how people say epidural hilang trus sakit coz man...i can still feel the pain!! a whole lot of pain!! (drama queen much??)

seriously. no kidding. i wanted to cry when the nurse ckp still 3cm..its been like 6 hours and no progress at all?? looked at hubs, he asked me to sabar, told me to expect deliver malam so dont keep my hopes up..and asked me to try and sleep...

and then the food came ~ i ordered sirloin steak for lunch the night before ~ terus segar wa ckp lu ~ hoho ~ dats how much i love food!! yes i ate it all!! sedappp....tgh menahan sakit pun boleh makan ~ hehe ~ actually, i learned it the hard way, masa aqil dulu tak makan langsung (didnt know i could eat!) and langsung takde energy nak push so this time around, makan makan and makan...for energy nak push... i had one plastic bag full of kurma and i finished all of it by the time baby dah ready nak kluar :)

after lunch, i kinda talked to my baby .. "sayang, sayang turun laa cepat sikit k...mama tak tahan dah ni sakit lama2...walaupun diorang kata pakai epidural ni tak sakit..tapi mama rasa sakit ni...cepat eh..." (seriously i said that!)

menahan sakit tapi masih mampu senyum :)

then at 2 the pain got worst and it was kinda unbearable.. asked hubs to take a peek tgk ade any tanda tak , and he said ade darah...i was yess!! panggil nurse...tak tahan dah ni sakit... the nurse came and checked... 9cm!! wooohooo!! 2 hours >> 6cm !! i was like you go girl sambil usap perut...ingatkan dah tak lama laa lepas tu, then nurse kata, ok..kita tunggu lagi sejam ok... apee?? sejammm...?? my goodness ~ masatu mmg superrr rasa nak nanges...my contraction was like seconds apart (i might be exaggerating here) but the reading was 127 all the way ~~ berpeluh2 tahan sakit... to keep my mind distracted (masa tu nak baca2 dah takleh nak focus) , i went to the one thing that I knew would keep my mind busy ~ facebook! haha...i kid you not...went thru my usual groups babywearing mama's, cloth diaper's blogshops, usha handbag....and siap boleh post status k..

hubs masa tu taktau nak kata ape...layan kan aje wife die yg tgh dalam kesakitan :) i was also watsapping with mom and my SIL, keeping them updated... :)

then at 3-ish, panggil nurse lagi sbb epidural dah habis and i was feeling the pain even more...they came in and added the epidural and checked again ~ 10 cm!! fuhh!! finally!! trus tanya...dah boleh push??? nurse kata ade rasa nak buang air besar ke..i said yes, like for the past half hour, so they called Dr Tan, and started to teach me how to push..

and so the pushing began, memula tu mcm tak berapa nak reti, but the nurse, Shahida (such an angel!!helped me dengan penuh kesabaran thruout the whole delivery) ajar sampai laa betul teknik push tu, i dunno why org kata pakai epidural tak rasa sakit and taktau bila nak push coz i felt the contraction and didnt have to rely on the machine to know when the contraction comes when it was time to push, and it was actually me who went... "ok nurse, another one coming (contraction) .. 1..2...3.." 

at first masa push tu masyaAllah sakit laa amat2 kan...but after the 6-7 time tu (yes, it took me at least 10-12 rounds before kepala baby betul2 nampak ~ TV tu semua menipu saje!!) the pain was less...and I swear the contraction felt so much far apart ~ siap antara contraction tu boleh bersembang ngn nurse about how Kourtney Kardashian boleh tarik keluar baby die sendiri, sembang psal my first experience kat hospital selayang, even pasal the possibility org pakai teropong tgk my delivery coz the curtains were open and there were tall buildings nearby ~ yerrr...saya boleh joke sampai nurse tu dok gelak jer ~~ i almost reached for my hp nak update status but hubs tak bagi ~ hehe ~~ 

the tall buildings i was talking about ~ bygkan klu ade org teropong ~ ok..i have a sick mind! nobody would ever do that right??? righttt??

so after almost an hour of pushing, the head was finally where it was suppose to be, nurse called doctor - doctor came - sambut baby - it was easy peasy after that - just one last push then she was out - doctor put baby on my chest ~ honestly, baby alya looked more like an alien then sbb she still had the white wax all over her body but it was the best feeling ever!! (aqil dulu sbb kluar luka kat kepala diorg trus rush ke NICU so i didnt get to experience that moment with him) .. i almost cried!! seriously...all that pain.... worth it!! 

worth every single pain :) she's such an angel :)

then nurse amek, bersihkan, timbang (3.37kg ~ not bad!), and put her back on me, and i fed her for the first time ~ pandai anak mama trus latch and minum like she's done it before... :)

1o minutes like that, the penat-ness started to kick in ~ tgn dah start rasa lembik ~ so panggil nurse amek baby and rested for almost an hour kat labor room ~ dengan hubs skali rest ~ sejam lebih die berdiri ~ hehe ~ 

but this time, not so bad, ingat masa aqil dulu it took me one whole day to recover, but this time, by 8pm tu dah segar ~ maybe because of all that kurma I makan ~ baby beside me, mom, dad , big bro, SIL, lil sis and my other hero came tengok baby (not me) huh! and I slept at 12 midnight with my new baby beside me :)

alhamdulillahhh... 

and that was her story....

going green with CD!!

morning peeps! its been a while since my last post..hee...been obsessing with baby preparations and meeting clients, didnt have the chance to update my blog ~ 

anyways, now that I know that my second would be a mini me ~ yes! you read it right! its a GIRL! alhamdulillahhh ~ the shopaholic in me just went wild!! (thank god baru confirm at 36 weeks so takde laa damage bnyk sgt ~ sure ke??) hee~~

anyways, my latest obsession is Cloth Diapers! I cant really recall how I actually decided to cloth diaper my 2nd, but the decision has been made and the damage already has been done! so I better stick with it ~

at first, my HUGE problem was ~ I have ZERO knowledge about CD .. like completely nada ~ so when I start googling about CD with the intention of buying, I was completely overwhelmed by the types and choices they have ~ pockets, AIO, AI2, fitted, hemp, MF, bamboo inserts, soakers ~ I was like ~ what is this man?!?!! I knew I had to do research and a lot of reading too~~ the only friend also business partner who I knew CD her son was away in Guangzhou ~~ so I was left no one ~ or so I thought ~ turns out my cousin Molly also CD her daughter, and my other cousin Kak Yan, was planning to use CD for her 2nd child (she's 7month preggers now) and there is a group in FB for CD parents that supports each other ~ alhamdulillah ~ after 2 days of intense research and reading ~ I can say ~ I can answer all the basic Q about CD :) 

BUT then I realized, CDs are expensive!! I mean for a beginner like me, its gonna cost me a lot! in the long run ~ mmg jimat ~ but the initial part ~ I read, for a newborn, you have to at least have 36-48 pieces coz newborns poops a lot! you dont wanna buy too many of the nb size coz they will outgrow the CD very fast, so many opt for OS but a lot of parents get dissapointed when the OS are too big for a newborn and can cause leakage ~ dilemma dilemma ~ I read the first few weeks will be challenging ~ esp for those parents who are used to DD (disposable Diapers) , and I was scared that I would be discouraged if there are too many bumps in my CD journey, but buying a lot of newborn size would be a waste pulak kan, a local/economical nb CD would cost around RM20-25 per piece , as for the imported ones would cost about RM50 above! thats a lot man!! even if I start with 10 pieces ~ 

so I googled ~ and guess what ~ theres a lot of tutorials out there on how to make your own CD!! I was so happy feeling like a little girl getting dolls and candies!! felt like going out beli kain and trus buat!! but, I held my excitement, chatted with a few CD makers on fb to make sure I get the right material and stuff, yelaa...because Im making for a baby kan ~ tak bleh sebarangan ~ after puas hati with all the info I got, terus ajak en suami p kamdar after our checkup kat PCMC that day ~ and that was rush hour org balik kerja ~ he was so mad sbb sangkut dalam jam ~ T___T tapi takpelaa kan...asalkan wifey happy kannn... :)

I made one piece that night, and compared it to the newborn DD i already bought ~ just to check the size ~ and its the same size!! yeay!!

the next few days were ~ wake up ~ CD making ~ meeting clients ~ CD making ~ cooking ~ CD making .. every spare time I have its for CD making ~ and I made 30 pieces in 4 days!! not bad huh? punya laa tak sabar kannn~~

I made the CDs step by step, so that I wouldnt get discouraged and I know I would have to finish all the CDs compared if I were to make them one by one ~ agak baru sampai 15 pieces dah tak larat nak continue kot ~ coz trust me ~ it was challenging to my 36w pregnant body to complete all 30sets ~ there were times that I wanted to stop ~ tapi since kain dah potong kan and dah halfway jahit so had to teruskan~  takpelaa demi anak kann :) hee~~

so in pictures ~ here's basically what I did

step 1 - admiring the pretty pretty cloth that I bought for semangat !! haha 

btw: these are cotton flannel bought at Kamdar Jalan Tar ~

30 pieces ~ about 4m of printed (Rm6.80/m) and 8m of plain (RM5.50/m)

step 2 - made the template - I made one for new born ~ 1 small size

but I only made the NB size ~ 

step 3 - cut all the fabrics ~ 

step 4 - sew the oval pads (this one is in the inside so takde masalah benang kale lain or the colors dont match)

step 5 - arranging all the layers according to color then match it with the layer with the oval pads, I sandwiched 3 layers of flannel for this CD , outer, inner and the middle part with oval pads 

it will make sewing much more easier if you pre-arrange it by color ~ takdelaa asek nak tukar benang jer kan~~

step 6 - sew the edges - this one if you're rajin ~ can use a coordinating thread ~ but if malas (mcm moi) pakai jer benang kale ape pun ~ bukan nampak kat luar ~~ hehe ~~ plus its faster this way, no need to change threads

step 7 - sew the leg elastic ~ again coz its inside, i didnt use coordinating thread pun

step 8 - turn the CD inside out and arrange according to thread color u want to use

step 9 - top stitch - this part onward dah kene buat ikut color thread ~~

step 10 : sew in the soaker ~

 for nb i just used washcloth lipat 3 ~ according to a lot of blogs I baca ~ as long as you change everytime they pee or poo ~ should be ok ~ for night need extra booster like microfiber or hemp ~ 

step 11 - sew the back elastic :)

and voila you're done! 

owh sorry ~ there should be a step 12 - sew the velcro / snaps - but im just too lazy for that ~ going to use either snappies or nappy pins :) nnti buat the OS punya baru laa pakai snaps ~ coz rasanya nb ni pakai 2-3 month jer :)

now u see why I did the CD step by step ~ 1st its faster doing it this way ~ 2nd ~ i just couldnt afford to stop halfway sbb klu tak nanti langsung takde CD yg siap :) heheehe~~

panjang giler post ni okeh...anyways...i hope for those yang tanya tu..clear about the steps for making CD ni ~ but take note ~ this CD is fitted type ~ so you need to use it with a cover made by PUL/Wool/TPU klu tak nnti bocor ~ I'm just gonna buy the cover sbb dah tak larat nak menjahit ~~ hehe...penatttt weyyhh!! plus its so hard to find PUL material in malaysia ~ semua online ~ but u dont really need a lot ~ like 5-6 jer so okey laa kan (going to go to tiny tapir to get the Thristies cover ~ read great reviews about it!) plus boleh pakai lama the cover so tak ralat laa nak beli trus ~~ 

need to get some other boosters also ~ untuk malam ~ also liners so that senang cuci :)

* bring your own hand trolley

* serbu part baju dulu ~ crazy cheap ~ will finish very2 fast (most choice for below 1 year - newborn baju selai rm3 pun ade!)

* review says diapers yg Premium 5 is comparable to MamiPoko! but wayyyy cheaper!! (last time sales 48pc only RM24) - I have yet to try ~ klu larat maybe pergi ~

* make a list of what you want to buy first ~ mmg rambang mata kat sana nnti :)

*** ade org kata murah rm4-5 rm jer dari luar ~ not worth the Q ~ baik beli kat supermarket ~ if you go buy 1-2 barang jer ~ mmg tak berbaloi ~ but if you want to buy a lot like diapers, toiletries- powder, baby wash, lotion, bottle detergent, baby clothes detergent, baby wipes, baju baby etc.. mmg worth ~ klu 1 barang save rm5 ~ 10 barang dah rm50, 20 brg dah rm100!! thats 4 more packs of diapers weyhh!! why pay retail when you can buy at less? :)

hope hubs setuju nak pergi ~ want to get diapers untuk aqil skali ~ taktau laa korang perasan ke tak ~ but now Petpet and Diapers dah sama harga ngan Mamipoko ~ seriously ~ T___T

My Dear Warehouse Sales

I have now checked off all the items in my shopping list :) thanks to My Dear warehouse sales :) I knew about this sales masa aqil lagi, bought his crib set there, mmg murah compared kat luar, I think My Dear buat warehouse sales twice a year kot, so when I saw the advert for this mid-year sales, mmg harus pergi!

I didnt have much to buy pun actually, the only major one was the car seat - I was at first contemplated nak beli car seat baru ker tak, since we have aqil punya carrier (but not very stabil) and also his car seat, but after the other day, testing bagi aqil dok belakang sorang2, pakai normal seat belt, tak sampai 5 minits, die dah berdiri and melompat sini sana, ohhh~~ bahaya2... maka...

he's back in his car seat...

and considering hubs now is always working till late, I need a stable carseat for my 2nd one coz I'll be the one handling the both of them...and safety always come first kan ~ so, beli jer laa a new one :)

I've searched other places jugak for the carseat ~ but I think the prices semua cam over rated... bukan berkira, but I was comparing between these 2 carseats that I was fond of, the material, the design, the safety features, more or less the same, but because of the brand (cant remember what tho), 1 tu trus jadi rm1k ~ and the other one was rm500 .. mmg nak amek jer yg rm500 tu, but in my heart said, takpelaa, nnti dtg lagi ~

tup2 p My Dear warehouse sales tu, ade carsear yg rm500 i wanted tu but selling at RM345! alhamdulillah ~ I honestly didnt realized it was My Dear punya brand, coz the SA kat kedai tu ckp brand singapore jer, i sendiri tak belek tgk brand pun ~ I was more focused on the safety features, and comparing it to the other one ~ so yeay for warehouse sales!! :)

anyways ~ here some pictures from the warehouse sales, tak berapa nak jelas coz I took it from my phone and combined it sbb post kat FB ~ but the prices mmg damn cheap! mmg worth going especially if you're preparing for your first child ~ bnyk bende nak beli kan ~ you can save at least rm400-500 in total! :) I also bought a nursing pillow, klu kat luar retailing for rm99 , I got it for rm62 jer kat sales tu :)

sadly, the sales ended yesterday..post ni lambat laa pulak kan...but i think they will be having another one hujung tahun ni, if you're interested :)

dont be selfish

Online businesses are all the rage these days. We even see our friends on facebook slowly coming up with advertisements to promote the stuff their selling. Be it ready stock items like scarfs, baby clothes, apparels or pre-orders like shoes and even services as tailoring, or taking orders from overseas. I dare say that at least 40% of my friends on my friend list are selling something.

Many are starting to make extra income. People from so many different backgrounds. Teachers, engineers, clerks, accountants, and even CEOs are doing this..

Yet, there are still people who says that, I dont need to make extra income. I have enough.

I normally just keep quiet when people say that, malas.

plus, I understand. If I do the math and budget, yes, what me and hubs are earning now, we have enough. Alhamdulillah...

but for me, making extra money, its not about NOW, its about the future (obviously) and the WHAT IFs...

what if my kids get sick and I need to upfront a huge amount of money for him to get the treatment? yes of course we have the insurance and the medical card, but honestly, this insurance thing when it comes to emergencies, it could be quiet tricky.

what if something happened to my car and need major repairs (yes, I've once caused my father to fork up RM4k to repair my moms car caused I wrecked it pretty bad- hey we dont want accidents to happen ~ but thats why its called an accident right??) - insurance? again ~ tricky!

what if my house got broke in and everything gets stolen? T___T

what if my siblings desperately needs my help financially, and I dont have the money to give them.

what if my spouse died?

what if the economy goes bad again, and you lose your job?

theres a lot of what ifs .. it might happen, it might not... who knows? but are we prepared financially? If something happens, do we have the money? sure we have our family members to help. but what if they cant?  we dont know their financial situation. right. are we willing to put our kids life in someone else hands? let them decide if our kid can have that treatment they so desperately need?

then there's the future,

do you honestly think, 5 years down the road that you will be spending the same amount that you would be spending now?

kids education for example, now maybe all you need is RM250 for their nursery/playschool/pre-school ~ but as they grow up, you'd be adding tuition, school uniforms, co-curriculum uniforms , exercise books (mind you its not cheap!) , allowances, the occasional field trips, sports day outfits, projects ~ thats at least another few hundred.

then there's groceries, one simple eg, now beras 5kg is enough for 1 month, by then at least 10kg for 1 month ~ growing kids eat a lot ok! ~ if you add here and there a bit, wont it be at least a couple of hundred jugak?

and fuel, now its for work and jalan2 during weekends. then it would be work, sending and fetching the kids to and from school, weekends and also ad-hocs - "mom I need to go to my friends house for a project" .. if you think that wont add to your fuel consumption. think again.

yes, you have increment in your salary, but if the expenses is increased by 50% , but your salary increase by even 45% (in 5 years i could be possible) ~ how do you accommodate the other 5% ?  5% if not rm5. 5% could be rm200 or rm500 ~ if every month you're short of rm200 pun ~ then how?

that's why for me, extra income is not an option. ITS A MUST. not necessarily for now, but for the future...

and if you say, kan savings yg dok buat sekarang ada, I ask you, If you keep on using that savings, you think it wont finish up? then what about the days when you are not working?
